La nueva edición de Vogue Latinoamérica tiene como protagonista en portada y en su editorial principal a la top model francesa Constance Jablonski quien viste lo mejor de los estampados de la temporada primavera verano,ya sean florales,animal print,tropicales o digitales.El editorial tiene un tema ya trabajado antes y por momentos las fotos me hacen recordar al trabajo de Miles Alridge para Vogue Italia pero sin su acabado impecable. Aún así, la belleza de Jablonski destaca.Enjoy

The new issue of Vogue Latin America bring us to their cover and main editorial french top model Constance Jablonski,who wears the best of the season´s prints for spring summer,it could be animal print, florals,tropicals or digital. This editorial has a already been worked them and for moments the pictures reminds me of Miles Aldridge work for Vogue Italia but without his polish finishing. Even so, Jablonski beauty stands out. MAC COSMETICS BEAUTY:NYFW SPRING SUMMER 2012

La locura que significa una semana de la moda no sólo es ir desfile tras desfile,esperar y ver las colecciones,sino que mucho ocurre en el backstage en donde se reúnen todos los profesionales, modelos, maquilladores,peluqueros y diseñadores, dispuestos a dar lo mejor de sí para que el resultado sea supremo.
Esta temporada tuve, junto con Gerardo Larrea, de tener acceso a tres desfiles y backstages de los diseñadores jóvenes con más presencia en la escena de la moda Neoyorkina: Proenza Schouler, Theysken´s Theory y Prabal Gurung.Esta experiencia esta plasmada en este reportaje.Enjoy

Siempre es una satisfacción ver como se desarrollan los talentos, y este el caso de Gerardo Larrea,quien no sólo es mi dupla sino que también es el cerebro detrás de The Illustrator files (http://theillustratorfiles.blogspot.com), blog que recoge lo mejor de las pasarelas nacionales e internacionales. El blog es relativamente nuevo y aún así ha logrado varias entrevistas en el exterior y múltiples notas en diversos medios. Ahora da un nuevo paso con la presentación de su primera colección para la venta.Son 24 ilustraciones en 3 tamaños,impresos en papel de algodón lo que le da una textura muy interesante,además que se ven muy chic.Las ilustraciones reúnen lo mejor que ha presentado en el blog. Yo soy muy afortunado de tener un par y me encantan.Son un regalo perfecto y aportan estilo en donde quieras tenerlas. Empezamos el año con el repertorio de las portadas de enero. Este mes es lo que se llamaría un mes "flojo" ya que con las fiestas navideñas y las vacaciones y por ser enero un mes de entrada al nuevo año, las revistas son más delgadas y algunas hacen el puente de diciembre-enero.Sin embargo se llegar a producir imagenes muy interesantes como las de Vogue Italia,o la de Harper´s Bazaar tanto en su edición española y brasilera.Enjoy

This month is what we call a "lazy" month,because with christmas and holidays, magazines are thinner with less amount of contents and even some magazines do december-january issues. PROENZA SCHOULER SPRING SUMMER 2012 AD CAMPAIGN

Sin duda un Proenza Schouler es de lo más resaltante de la escena de moda de NY, tuvimos la gran oportunidad de estar presentes en el backstage de su desfile primavera verano 2012 y aquí está la campaña gráfica de la colección. Protagonizado por la top Natasha Poly,fotografiada por Willy Vanderperre y el styling a cargo de Olivier Rizzo.Vanderperre se ha convertido en uno de mis fotografos favoritos con una estética muy precisa por momentos poética y por otras intelectual, en esta campaña me encanta el aire de pin-up y que tenga un enfoque directo y sin pretensiones en los que cae la moda a veces,haciendo de ésta una de mis campañas favoritas hasta ahora. En cuanto al beauty, el maquillaje lo Hizo Diane Kendall y el peinado Recine. Pronto todas las fotos de backstage de la colección primavera verano 2012.Enjoy

There is no doubt that Proenza Schouler is one of the hot tickets from NY fashion scene, we had the opportunity to be at their backstage for spring summer 2012 collection, and here it is the ad capaign for that collection. The model is russian top model Natasha Poly who was shot by Willy Vanderperre and styled by Olivier Rizzo. Vanderperre has become one of my favorite photographers with a very precise aesthetic at times poetic, and by other intellectual ,in this campaign I love the modern pin-up mood air and the direct and unpretentious approach in which fashion falls at times,making this campaign one of my favorites so far.Makeup was done by Diane Kendal and hair by Recine. Soom i´ll be doing a post with all backstage access we had for spring summer 2012 collection. Enjoy

SIX MOMENTS THAT DEFINE FASHION IN 2011 (FROM MY POINT OF VIEW)

Sin duda el 2011 ha significado un año que ha marcado la moda,tanto en el mercado local como en el internacional. Han sido muchos momentos,recuerdos,trabajos y vivencias que han hecho de este año totalmente memorable.Aqui mis seis momentos favoritos del año:

MOMENTO 6

Carine Roitfeld:Cuando todos pensaban que su carrera sufriría un daño permanente por su polémica salida de Vogue Paris, ella probó que pudo reinventarse y sacar provecho de su situación. Hizo el styling de dos campañas para Chanel, además de la campaña para Barneys con Mario Sorrenti, apariciones en portadas y como modelo en editorial como para I-D y W magazine. Además fue la organizadora de dos de las mejores fiestas del año,sin embargo el climax fue el lanzamiento de su libro "Irreverent" que resume veinte años de carrera.Toda una sobreviviente.

MOMENTO 5
Alexander McQueen: Con una acogida impresionante se expuso la obra de Alexander McQueen en el Museo Metropolitan de Nueva York.La muestra llamada "Savage Beauty"con visitas de mas de dos mil personas diarias,ha sido el mejor tributo que se la ha podido hacer a este creador británico. Acompaña la muestra un libro con fotografías de Solve Sundsbo de sus creaciones

MOMENTO 4
NYC Fashion week:Este año son diez temporadas consecutivas que, junto con mi dupla Gerardo Larrea, asistimos al fashion week de Nueva York. Cada temporada es una experiencia diferente y divertida incluso logrando entrevistar a varios personajes de la escena de la moda. Los desfiles más destacados de este año han sido: Prabal Gurung, Proenza Schouler, Carolina Herrera, Theysken´s Theory, Michael Bastian,Chris Benz, Ohne Titel,Ruffian,Antonio Azzuolo.

MOMENTO 3
Carolina Herrera: Pocas veces uno tiene la oportunidad de conocer a grandes creadores,y aunque en febrero de este año fue la primera vez que la entrevistamos,fue en octubre cuando realmente pudimos tener una charla con ella a propósito de la inauguración(aunque teníamos veinte minutos la entrevista se extendió hasta una hora),sólo para confirmar lo elegante y el ícono que significa para la moda mundial. Toda una señora.

MOMENTO 2
Juanita Burga: La única modelo peruana en desfilar en las cuatro pasarelas del mundo mostrando las creaciones de Costello Tagliapietra, Vivienne Westwood, Kenzo,Alexandre Herchcovitch, J.Crew, Custo Barcelona, Carven, Elie Tahari, ,sin contar sus apariciones en diversas publicaciones y campañas tales como Glamour, Urban Outfitters,Vmagazine, Io Donna, Garnier, Levi´s. Recientemente estuvo en Lima por fiestas y tuve la oportunidad no sólo de verla y trabajar con ella y George Paul,su novio, sólo demostrando cuánto ha crecido como mujer y como profesional, y el camino largo que le falta recorrer. Hay que estar atentos.

MOMENTO 1
La moda en el Perú: Ha sido un año de esperanza para la moda nuestra economía ha crecido, y eso se traduce en como ha crecido la moda en nuestro país. El punto máximo ha sido el primer LifWeek (Lima Fashion week), producido por Efraín Salas, en donde diez de nuestro diseñadores más reconocidos presentaron sus colecciones de otoño invierno, el evento sirvió para lo que es el objetivo del fashion week,ver ropa y propuestas además de presentarlo a la prensa local e internacional.Si bien es cierto es un primer intento y con detalles por pulir,no hay otra forma de comenzar más que empezando,aunque también tuvo mucha crítica sobretodo por el público que se enfrentaba a un evento nuevo en nuestro medio,acostumbrado al desfile-show a beneficio.Lamentablemente por el cambio de gobierno y las consecuencias de este hecho hicieron que no se repita este año el evento que tenía gran proyección y un largo camino por recorrer. Otros eventos destacados han sido el FlashMode y el Cusco Always In Fashion. Lo importante es democratizar y sacar a relucir lo mejor del diseño peruano no sólo en un contexto local sino con proyección internacional,muy importante para que no sólo dejemos de pensar en Lima sino que muchos más ojos están sobre nosotros.
Por otro lado en la segunda mitad del año he visto con grata sorpresa que casi todos los diseñadores y marcas, nuevas y establecidas, han presentado ,por separado, sus colecciones de primavera verano lo cual significa un nivel de inversión y crecimiento para esta industria. Algunos más acertados que otros,lo rescatable es el esfuerzo de mostrar sus nuevas propuestas.Sin contar las aperturas de boutiques de marcas nacionales como la de Sergio Dávila en el centro de Lima.
Además el Perú ha sido centro de inversión y llegada de marcas de lujo de talla internacional como Carolina Herrera,Versace,Salvatore Ferragamo y Emporio Armani.
Finalmente es importante es el Perú como locación para diversas publicaciones de moda internacionales como Vogue Latinoamérica,entre otras. Es importante el impulso de peruanos en el extranjero como Sergio Corvacho, Alexander Neumann y la misma Juanita Burga.

COPY & PASTE: ELLE ESPAIN AND VOGUE PARIS AND VOGUE UK

Volviendo con el copy & paste internacional,dos ejemplos de la misma revista, Elle España que en dos editoriales ha copiado sin tapujos otros dos editoriales de revistas internacionales.El primer caso es viene en la edición de enero del 2012(osea es del próximo año)en la que copian un editorial de Kate Moss fotografiada por Patrick Demarchelier para el Vogue británico de septiembre del 2010,hay memorias que no olvidan y para muestra un botón:

Back to the internationatl copy & paste, let me show you two examples of the same magazine,it´s Elle spain that copied with no shame two other editorials. The first example come with their january 2012 issue,where it copied an editorial with Kate Moss from Vogue uk september 2010,shot by Patrick Demarchelier,memory don´t forget and here it is:

El segundo ejemplo es del 2011 en donde copian un editorial que, de por sí, ya venía con polémica.Del duó fotográfico Mert&Marcus este editorial con Isabeli Fontana tiene una referencia bien clara de un editorial hecho para Vogue Italia en los 90´s por Steven Meisel con Linda Evangelista fotografiada en las calles de La Habana. Pero esto ya es la copia de la copia. En ambos ejemplos la copia no llega a tener la calidad de los originales.Uds Mismos juzguen

The second example is from 2001, where they copied an editorial that comes with lots of buzz. From photographic duo Mert&Marcus with Isabeli fontana it has a clear reference from a shoot done for Vogue Italia in the nineties by Steven Meisel with Linda Evangelista at La Havana`s street. In both examples the copy lacks of quality. Judge yourself. Enjoy

Hace mucho que no posteaba sobre el copy-paste y aunque estoy juntando material nacional, decidí hacer este post sobre la marca argentina Ayres,que, para su campaña primavera verano 2012, básicamente se "inspira" en un editorial publicado en la revista W de marzo de este año.
Si bien es cierto mujeres caminando por la calle no es un concepto nuevo ni que le pertenezca alguien pero los detalles y el enfoque es tan parecido que no hay duda que lo han hecho con la foto de referencia al lado. Obviamente el resultado no tiene la calidad del original.Enjoy

Long time i didn´t make a post on copy-paste and although I am collecting national material, I decided to make this post on the Argentine brand Ayres, for their campaign spring summer 2012, basically is "inspired" by an editorial published in W Magazine in March of this year.While it is true women walking down the street it is not a new concept or that it belongs to someone but the details, the approach and focus is so similar that there is no doubt that have done them with the photo of reference to the side. The result don´t have the quality of the original.Enjoy

Esta es la campaña de primavera verano 2012 de Marquis,es interesante la iniciativa de la marca por contar con un equipo más cercano a la moda que al publicitario y esto se nota en el enfoque y resultado final.Una campaña sencilla pero con espíritu de moda que tiene como protagonista a la modelo top Maryna Lynchuk y Vladimir Ivanov han sido fotografiados por la argentina con nombre internacional Paola Kudacki. En septiembre, durante el último fashion week, mientras esperaba el desfile de Adam Lippes en el lobby del Lincoln Center,habían varios libros y uno de ellos llamó mi atención. Se trata de Parisian Chic, una guía de estilo de Inès de la Fressange en donde da a conocer los mejores tips para obtener el look francés y chic. De la Fressange fue musa de Karl Lagerfeld por mucho tiempo. El libro está dividido por varios capítulos que abarca desde tips de estilo, lugares dónde comprar, dónde comer,etc. Me gustó el tono personal y sincero que tiene el libro,además que va acompañado de ilustraciones y fotografías que ilustran de lo que se habla. Un must sobretodo para las que apuestan por un estilo personal.Enjoy

In September, during the last fashion week, while waiting for the Adam Lippes show in Lincoln Center lobby, they offer several books and one of them caught my attention. It's Parisian Chic, a style guide by Inès Fressange where unveils the best tips to get the French look and chic. Fressange was muse of Karl Lagerfeld for a long time. The book is divided by several chapters ranging from lifestyle tips, style do´s and dont´s,places where buy, where to eat, etc. I liked the personal and sincere tone which has the book, also accompanied illustrations and photographs that illustrate what is talking about. Esta casa de moda italiana, diseñada por su fundadora y directora creativa Consuelo Castiglioni, verá la luz en la primavera 2012, el 8 de marzo para ser exactos (para el hemisferio norte). La idea de la colección, segun castiglioni: "Quise crear un guardaropa Marni con piezas icónicas y telas reconocibles para la marca.Como siempre, sobreponiendo texturas y colores, mezclando estampados tribales con gráficos Bauhaus añadiendo elementos deportivos utilitarios"finaliza. When we were still with the excitement of the Versace collection for Swedish retail, now we are surprised with the announcement of a new partnership: Marni for H&M. This Italian fashion house, designed by its founder and creative director Consuelo Castiglioni, will be released in spring 2012, the March 8 to be exact (for the northern hemisphere). The idea of the collection, according to Castiglioni: "I wanted to create a Marni wardrobe with iconic pieces and fabrics for the brand. as always overlaying textures and colors, tribal prints mixed with Bauhaus graphics adding sporty utilitarian elements" ends. La primera vez que la entrevistamos fue en febrero de este año en el backstage del fashion week en Nueva York, y la experiencia fue increible el conocer a un personaje del mundo de la moda tan importante. Grande fue nuestra sorpresa cuando nos enteramos que Carolina Herrera, junto a su hija Carolina Herrera Baez, visitarían Lima pero primera vez con motivo de la inauguración de la primera boutique CH en el Perú. Además, como editores de moda de la revista Somos, teníamos la misión de entrevistarla una vez más. No hay palabras al describir la experiencia de tener la oportunidad de conversar,por casi una hora, sobre diversos aspectos de la moda y de su colaboración con la Iniciativa ser que lucha contra el cáncer de mama.No sólo es una de las grandes de la moda pero también una persona muy sincera,elegante y amable.Gracias a Puig y Llorente&Cuenca por su colaboración.Enjoy

Esta es la primera campaña de la marca Kuna que hacemos, y la verdad quedé muy contento con el resultado. Queríamos lograr imágenes frescas que no se sientan artificiales pero que no pierdan el sueño que significa la moda. The Girl & The Garden es el concepto que trabajamos en donde la conexión con la naturaleza es esencial. La colección presenta colores energéticos como el turquesa,el verde limón y el coral. Los tejidos son frescos y hay tejido de punto como algodón.En resumen una colección apropiada para la temporada.Enjoy

This is the first campaign we did for Kuna, the truth, i was very pleased with the final result. We wanted fresh images, not feel artificial but without loosing the fantasy that fashion means. The Girl & The Garden is the concept we worked, where the connection with nature is essential. The collection features energetic colors like turquoise, lime green and coral. The fabrics are fresh and there is knitting and some pieces in cotton.Its a great collection, suitable for the season.Enjoy

Desde el lunes 14 hasta el viernes 18 se estará exhibiendo el festival de moda Flashmode, que en su versión de este año tiene como tema: aldea global urbana. Este concurso ,que termina en un desfile el viernes 18, ha servido de plataforma para el impulso de nuevos talentos.
Además de los stands con las nuevas propuestas hay varias conferencias, entre las cuales está la que daré mañana miércoles 16,junto con mi dupla Gerardo Larrea, sobre cómo hacer un editorial de moda. Será una experiencia nueva y que espero sea positiva.
Para los interesados, la charla es el miércoles 16 a las 7.50pm en la Alianza Francesa de Miraflores. Enjoy

CFDA/VOGUE FASHION FUND 2011

Como cada año, la revista Vogue junto con el CFDA (el consejo de diseñadores de moda americanos) realiza una convocatoria por la cual le brinda apoyo económico y soporte a jóvenes diseñadores como parte del impulso de la industria de la moda y las nuevas generaciones. Esta iniciativa es el CFDA/VOGUE FASHION FUND y Esta noche fue la versión 2011 teniendo como ganador a Joseph Altuzarra, quien recibió 300,000 dólares y un mentor en la parte de negocios. El segundo y tercer lugar fueron ocupados por Pamela Love y Creatures Of the Wind (Shane Gabier y Chris Peters) respectivamente, quienes recibieron 100,000 dólares cada uno y también asesoría de negocios. Felicidades.
Like every year, Vogue magazine along with the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) announces a initiative to provide financial support for young designers as part of the fashion industry . This initiative is the CFDA / Vogue Fashion Fund and tonight was the 2011 version having as a winner Joseph Altuzarra , who received $ 300.000 and a business mentorship. LOULOU DE LA FALAISE (1947-2011)

Si bien es cierto ya pasó una semana, no quería dejar de postear acerca de la muerte de LouLou de la Falaise, diseñadora y musa del diseñador Yves Saint Laurent, luego de una penosa enfermedad. De la Falaise, se convirtió en un verdadero icono de estilo, no sólo por acompañar a Saint Laurent por más de veinte años,y ser la inspiradora del le Smoking y de las blusas transparentes que impulsó el diseñador, sino porque se dedicó a hacer joyas con su propia línea. Descanse en paz.
Although already pass a week, i did not want to stop posting about the death of LouLou de la Falaise, designer and muse of designer Yves Saint Laurent, after a painful illness. De la Falaise, became an icon of style, not only to accompany Saint Laurent for over twenty years, and will be the inspiration for the Smoking and sheer blouses that defined the designer, but because she was dedicated to her own jewelry line. Rest in peace.

Ya no falta nada para que se lanze mundialmente la colaboraciòn entre la casa de moda italiana Versace y la cadena de fast fashion H&M, y hace unos días lo han hecho por lo grande. primero con el lanzamiento de la campaña de TV en un video lúdico y divertido en donde Donatella hace de titeretera de Lindsey Wixon y Daphne Groeneveld y termina con un frase más que precisa "My house, My rules, my pleasure".
Por otro lado, hace dos días se realizó en Nueva York,el desfile de esta colección con 41 looks y que congregó lo mejor de la moda y de las celebridades como Blake Lively, Jessica Alba,Uma Thurman entre otras. El after party estuvo a cargo de Prince y de Nicki Minaj, quienes cantaron¿ de forma separada, sus mejores éxitos.

Pues bien ahora a tan solo un mes de su lanzamiento a nivel mundial,ya vió la luz la campaña publicitaria fotografiada por la dupla Mert&Marcus y como protagonistas tiene a Abbey Lee Kershaw, Sasha Pivovarova, Daphne Groeneveld y Lindsey Wixon. Básicamente la colección y la campaña es un resumen de lo mejor de las colecciones e imágenes más icónicas de la marca en su existencia. Enjoy

Part of being a fashion editor, not only is making editorials or be in an endless search for clothes or go to the fashion week. There are also times when you need to interview certain people important in the fashion world, this is the case of Richard Haines, fashion illustrator for the New York Times, with whom we sat and talked, in a New York coffee shop,about his beginnings and his work philosophy. R.I.P FRANCESCO COMINELLI (1983-2011)

El mundo de la moda recibió con pesar la noticia que el jueves por la noche fue encontrado el cuerpo, en su departamento de París, sin vida del editor italiano Francesco Cominelli. Cominelli era editor asistente de Vogue Hommes International (la versión francesa del Vogue masculino) por cinco años.
Es lamentable que justo su muerte coincida con el final de fashion week de Paris. Cominelli era un habitual en los blogs de streetstyle, especialmente Jak & Jill de Tommy Ton y The Sartorialist de Scott Schuman. Su indudable estilo al vestir lo llevó a destacar,sumado a su buen humor, personalidad y calidad de su trabajo.
Cominelli, de 28 años, estudió en el IED y luego estuvo un año en Nueva York haciendo pasantías en V magazine. Luego regresó a Europa con un intento de una línea de ropa masculina llamada "Spazio Ludico", para luego ser asistente de Anatasia Barbieri.
Sin duda, será extrañado. Descansa en paz Francesco.

The fashion world received the news with regret that Thursday night was found the body ,in his apartment in Paris, of Italian stylist Francesco Cominelli. Cominelli was assistant editor of Vogue Hommes International (the French version of Vogue male) for five years.
It is unfortunate that his death just coincide with the end of fashion week in Paris. Cominelli was a regular in streetstyle blogs, especially Jak & Jill by Tommy Ton and The Sartorialist by Scott Schuman. His personal style of dress outshines undoubtedly , coupled with his good humor, personality and quality of his work. Cominelli, 28, studied at the IED and then spent a year interning in New York at V magazine. He returned to Europe with an attempt at a menswear line called "Spazio Ludico", and then to be assistant of the stylist Anatasia Barbieri.
No doubt he will be missed. Rest in peace Francesco.

Último día del fashion week. Lo más resaltante del día fue el desfile de Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein y Marc Jacobs. En una nota aparte nuestro compatriota Sergio Dávila presentó su colección en el Lincoln Center. Finalmente el show de Arise de Africa contó con un mini concierto de la británica Leona Lewis. Luego de 30 desfiles y muchas horas sin dormir ya espero ansioso la siguiente temporada.Enjoy
Last day of fashion week. The most striking of the day was Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein and Marc Jacobs shows. On a side note our compatriot Sergio Davila presented his collection at Lincoln Center.
